How Council Works
Citizens, not customers
What sort of council is Marrickville? How does it respond to our community?
Some councils see their role as service deliverers and so treat their community as customers. Marrickville Council believes that you are more than a mere recipient of services. We believe you care about your community and have an interest in what's going on.
Council believes in working with citizens to build community spirit, enhance the look and feel of the area, and support our diverse, vibrant, innovative community.
How does Council work?
How does Council ensure that Marrickville remains a great place for all people? How does it help to create a bright future for Marrickville? How do citizens have their say?
Council is made up of:
- the elected council which is responsible for planning and making decisions on key issues affecting Marrickville; and
- Council staff who implement Council decisions and provide programs and services to support citizens and enhance our local area.
