Marrickville Council Community Events

Marrickville Council holds a range of free community and cultural events throughout the year that celebrate the vibrant and diverse character of the area.

Council's events program aims to strengthen the community of Marrickville by supporting community engagement, promoting a vibrant street-life and celebrating our rich cultural traditions.

One of the highlights of the year is the Marrickville Cultural Festival, which is held in September. A full list of annual community and cultural events is below.

Review of the Major Community Events and Community Cultural Events Programs

From time to time, Council reviews its programs to ensure that they are delivering the best services, most effectively, to the community. Council has commenced a review of its Major Community Events Program, including the Community Cultural Events Program. It is anticipated that recommendations arising from the review will be presented to Council for comment in early 2010. The recommendations will include suggested changes to improve the Major Community Events Program, including the Community Cultural Events Program.

Please note, that due to the timing of the Major Community Events Program review, Sunday Arvo Sessions (originally scheduled for November 2009), the Dulwich Hill Street Festival (originally scheduled for December 2009) and the Sustain Cooks River Festival (originally scheduled for April 2010) have been postponed until Council formally decides on the future directions of the Major Community Events Program, including the Community Cultural Events Program, in early 2010.
