Streamwatch is a school and community action program that raises awareness of the natural environment through testing water quality in local rivers and streams. The program empowers groups to protect the health of local waterways through their involvement in water quality monitoring. Streamwatch groups (primary school, high school and community) are trained by their ‘regional coordinator’ to monitor the water quality in a local river/stream using a Streamwatch kit.
Two Streamwatch groups are currently active in the Marrickville LGA and their water quality results are detailed in Council’s State of the Environment Report. To find out more visit the Streamwatch website or phone 8752 6408.
