Garbage

Marrickville Council provides a weekly household garbage collection service to houses and units in the Marrickville Local Government Area. The household garbage collection service is part of a comprehensive waste strategy designed to assist all residents to maintain a clean and safe local environment.

If you're unsure which day your waste is collected, check our Waste and Recycling Zones file and locate your street address and number in the table.

Where does my garbage go when collected?

On average every household generates approximately 1 tonne of waste per annum. Once collected, Marrickville Council trucks take the waste to the Rockdale Transfer Station, where its is then transported to the Lucas Heights Waste Management Centre. Lucas Heights Waste Management Centre is the second of two major waste facilities that opened in 1998. It is operated and managed by WSN Environmental Solutions, covering an area of about 300 hectares, that is progressively filling with an estimated life span to 2012 hence the need to recycle.
