The Marrickville Library Service established the first Hellenic Book Club in Australia, which aims to showcase and discuss books that promote Greek literature and history. The club provides book lovers with an opportunity to read and discuss various themes and views expressed in the selected book of the month.
The Marrickville Library Hellenic Book Club brings the written word to life by featuring visiting authors and discussions between group members. Literature of Greek interest, as well as works by Greek-Australian authors, are presented and discussed to highlight the constantly growing literary scene both in Australia and in Greece.
The group meets monthly at the Marrickville Library main branch. If you would like to attend, please call the Library on 9335 2173 or 93352166.

Marrickville Library has undertaken a massive project to breathe new life into the Greek collection through the purchase of new items and the removal of old, out of date books.
The Greek community will enjoy a current collection with new items for loan, featuring titles from best selling authors like Stephanie Myers, Khaled Hosseini and Clive Cussler. The Library will produce new item booklists in English and Greek languages and create a dedicated space for new items that will be of high interest and demand in the Marrickville Local Government Area. The Library is revitalising the Greek collection to ensure it remains relevant to the whole community.
Items removed from the library collection will be offered to eligible community organisations or offered as book sale items at the Marrickville Town Hall in November 2009. For more information please contact Lisa Marschall, Coordinator Community Programs at Marrickville Library Service on 9335 2169.
