Rainwater Tank Incentive Scheme

Marrickville Council's Rainwater Tank Rebate Program is now available to all residents and businesses in the local government area, following the experience gained from the trial Rebate Program run in Marrickville South.

Council encourages the installation of rainwater tanks, as capturing and using rainwater helps to protect our waterways and manage precious water resources in our community.

How the Program works

Council's Rebate is in addition to the Sydney Water rebate. It's based on the capacity of the tank(s) installed and how the water is used.

Higher rebates are offered for larger tanks and those with internal plumbing to laundry, toilets and/or hot water*, with a maximum rebate of $2000 per household.

Council Rebate

Installation Rate / litre
Tank only 10c
Tank internally plumbed to 1 use - toilet(s) or laundry or hot water* 13c
Tank internally plumbed to 2 uses - toilet(s) and/or laundry and/or hot water* 18c
Tank internally plumbed to 3 uses - toilet(s) and laundry and hot water* 20c

* Plumbing into hot water is not always suitable. Check with your plumber.
