Activities for Seniors
Council is committed to supporting a range of activities and programs to improve the quality of life for older people living in Marrickville.
In 2008, Council developed the Marrickville Ageing Strategy, a strategic plan to be implemented over the next three years. One of the key recommendations from the plan was to initiate a Seniors Activities program and encourage greater use of the existing range of local community facilities.
Council has developed a range of physical activity, social and creative opportunities to build on the health and wellbeing of older residents. All activities have a social focus, and present an opportunity for residents over 55 years to have fun and challenge themselves in a positive and welcoming environment.
A range of activities are offered including art groups, gentle exercise, choirs and walking groups.
