Arts and Cultural Grants Program
Marrickville Council's Arts and Cultural Grants Program provides financial support to artists working in any art form, community and cultural groups, and not-for-profit, non-government arts, community and cultural organisations that offer programs of benefit to residents in the Marrickville local government area (LGA).
The Program contributes to key goals in Council's Our Place, Our Vision - Community Strategic Plan, including:
- supporting a diverse community that values and celebrates their cultural diversity;
- supporting a creative community that participates in arts and cultural activities at all stages of life; and
- helping Marrickville to be recognised as a leading independent arts centre.

Independent Artist Grants
This grants program encourages local emerging artists to maintain an independent arts practice. These grants may be suitable for applicants staging a Sydney Fringe Festival performance.
Funding of $1,000–$5,000 per project is available for this program.

Open Marrickville Grants
Open Marrickville is a Council event which takes the form of a festival, 11 days celebrating culture and diversity in Marrickville through storytelling, music, dance, art, theatre, food and simply gathering together. Open Marrickville unlocks the talents and creativity of local communities and celebrates the many and varied cultures in Marrickville.
Open Marrickville cultural events must take place between Thursday 20 June to Sunday 30 June 2013 in a variety of locations across the Local Government Area.
Funding of up to $5,000 is available for cultural events and activities to be held as part of Open Marrickville 2013.
Community groups, schools, local artists, cultural groups and the general public are invited to submit an application for grant funding. Council is looking for a range of activities such as cooking classes, poetry readings, craft and traditional arts workshop, exhibitions and cultural events.
