Councillor Max Phillips
Central Ward - Wirraga
Max Phillips lives in Marrickville with his partner Claire and their young baby Luna. He works as a media adviser to Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham (working a lot on the coal seam gas campaign) and has previously worked for Bob Brown in Canberra. He has an honours degree in Political Science from the University of Sydney. He has previously worked for the State Library, Board of Studies and as a postman.
Priorities
Max wants to improve the local environment by planting more street trees and verge gardens, cleaning up the Cooks River, reducing car dependence and reducing Marrickville's carbon footprint.
He wants to see Marrickville prosper as a creative, arts and technology hub, as well as a place where wonderful food is made, cooked and consumed.
Max wants to see urban development that is sympathetic with our heritage and the character of our neighbourhoods.
"Council should provide efficient and quality services for our community and we should invest in quality infrastructure, such as the Enmore and Petersham pools, our sporting fields and parks, and a new library and community hub."
Representing the Greens, Max will work on Council to ensure Marrickville keeps its edge as a progressive, diverse and vibrant community.
