Computer Skills

Marrickville Library and History Services regularly provides the following computer skills classes for library members:

  • Introduction to Computers
  • Introduction to the Internet
  • Introduction to Email and Facebook

The classes are for beginners and cover basic skills only. For more experienced computer users, we recommend the two online computer skills courses noted at the bottom of this page.

Bookings and dates for each session are available by contacting the library at 9335 2173 or info1@marrickville.nsw.gov.au. There is a non-refundable booking charge of $5.00 per class ($2.50 for concession card holders).

Classes given in the Chinese & Greek languages can also be arranged by contacting the Multicultural Librarian at 9335 2166 or email libmul@marrickville.nsw.gov.au.

Online computer skills training

Online courses provided by the library cover the topics outlined below.hese are available whether you're logged on at the library or browsing from home. You will require your library membership number for access.

  • Dynamic Learning Online (library membership card number required)
    Introduction to computers, email, Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Outlook 2007, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Twitter, Facebook and blogs
     
  • Computerschool (library membership card number required)
    Computer basics, keyboard shortcuts, Internet, Internet research, Internet safety, email, eCommerce, web design, access, DreamWeaver, FrontPage, MovieMaker, Word 2003 and 2007, Excel 2003 and 2007, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Publisher 2007, Windows.
     
  • Computer Mouse and Keyboard Tutorial (no membership card number required)
     
  • Basic Mouse Skills (no membership card number required)
     
  • Mouse skill games (no membership card number required)
