Current Tree Management Notices for Public Trees
Notification of street tree management at PETERSHAM PARK, PETERSHAM
Council has identified the need to remove the public tree outlined below. You may make a written submission on the proposed removal by emailing or writing to Council. Correspondence must be received before the notification period.
- Location: Petersham Park, Petersham (northern end of park)
- Tree species: Ficus rubiginosa (Port Jackson Fig)
- Reason for removal: Tree have been previously identified for replacement as part of the Petersham Park Master Plan 2011. Tree is over mature and in a state of decline. Major structural limbs have extensive internal decay and dieback. Viable treatment options are limited due to the age of the tree. The tree presented an unacceptable risk to infrastructure and public safety..
- Replacement tree species: Agathis robusta (Queensland Kauri Pine) in 500L during 2013 planting season.
- Notification period finishes: 25 June 2013

- Tree species: Ficus macrophylla (Moreton Bay Fig) x 3
- Reason for removal: Trees have been previously identified for replacement as part of the Petersham Park Master Plan 2011. Trees are in poor condition and inappropriately located. They are being removed to make way for superior quality advanced size replacement trees.
- Replacement tree species: Ficus macrophylla (Moreton Bay Fig) in 800L and Ficus rubiginosa (Port Jackson Fig) in 500L during 2013 planting season.
- Notification period finishes: 25 June 2013

Post notification of emergency tree removal at JARVIE PARK, MARRICKVILLE
Council regretfully identified the need for urgent removal the public tree outlined below.
- Location: Jarvie Park, Marrickville
- Tree species: Ficus rubiginosa (Port Jackson Fig)
- Reason for removal: The tree had a major branch (approx 40% of tree canopy) failure during a high wind event. The remaining tree was structurally unsound and not viable for retention.
- Replacement tree species: Ficus macrophylla (Moreton Bay Fig) in 800L during 2013 planting season.
