Have your say on the proposed changes to the NSW planning system
Do you believe the local community should have a say in development applications in your neighbourhood?
The State Government’s White Paper – A new planning system for NSW – is proposing:
- Community involvement will only occur at the early 'strategic planning' local planning stage - after that, most development applications would not be subject to community or council assessment
- New planning rules that aim to see 80 per cent of development proposals determined in less than 25 days
- 'Strategic Compatibility Certificates' (SCC) will allow State Government appointees to certify developments within your neighbourhood that do not comply with Local Environmental Plans
- Greater focus and more detail in Local Plans and higher level Sub Regional Plans that establish housing targets and identify development precincts in local areas.
It's not too late to comment – Marrickville citizens should familiarise themselves with the proposed changes and give feedback before comment closes on Friday 28 June. Go to www.planning.nsw.gov.au/newplanningsystem to have your say.
