Parking Permits

Citizens can apply for parking permit labels if they live in one of Council's resident parking areas. This exempts the vehicle from time limits imposed by signposting that bears the words "Permit Holders Excepted" and the corresponding area code.

Newtown-Enmore Resident Parking Scheme

The Newtown-Enmore Resident Parking Scheme (area M3) commenced on 16 May 2011. This scheme has different conditions to other permit areas in the Marrickville area, and uses a different application form to the one on this page. Finding your parking area

Find out if you can apply for Residential Parking by viewing Council's online Interactive Mapping Program. To see the parking maps in the Interactive Mapping Program, follow these instructions:

  • scroll down to Residential Parking Map
  • click on all three boxes
  • click on apply

Types of permits

There are five types of parking permits available:

  • Resident Parking Permits [download form]
    Valid for the current financial year, with renewal in July. Citizens can apply for up to 2 permits.
     
  • Business Parking Permits [download form]
    Valid for the current financial year, with renewal in July. Businesses can apply for 1 permit.
     
  • Disabled Parking Permits and Signs [download form]
    Citizens can apply for disabled parking space outside their premises. Anyone with a mobility parking permit may also use the carspace.
     
  • Replacement Parking Permits [download form]
    Citizens may apply to replace their permit if their vehicle has been sold, stolen or damaged, and they have another vehicle to replace it.
     
  • Residents Visitor Parking Permits [visit information page for forms and more information]
    Issued to permanent residents to lend to the visitor. Permits are required to be displayed on the vehicle's dashboard.

Applying for a permit

To apply for a parking permit follow the steps below:

Step 1: Check to see if you property is located in the residential parking precinct map.

Step 2: Fill in a parking permit application form.

Step 3: Provide a copy of the current vehicle registration papers (except for visitor permits).

Step 4: Provide proof of residency.

Step 5: Send your parking permit application form, credit card payment form (if paying by post or fax) and other documents by post, by fax, or by hand-delivery to the Citizens' Service Centre in Petersham.
