Marrickville Transportation Planning & Advisory Committee (Transport Committee)

The Marrickville Transport Committee was originally formed out of the Council's Bicycle Committee, and is intended to provide a forum for discussion and advice to Council on transport issues in the Marrickville LGA and region. It held its first meeting in 2001, then met again in November 2005 and has been meeting four times a year ever since.

Meetings are at 6-8pm on the third Thursday in the months of February, May, July (or August) and October. Usually three or four items are discussed, with the other items included in the business paper for information.

The Transport Committee has one sub-committee - the Bicycle Working Group, which meets two weeks before each Transport Committee meeting.

Transport Committee meeting business papers are distributed to Committee members before the meeting, and Committee minutes are reported to Council meetings for information and endorsement. The Chair of the Committee is a Marrickville Councillor, and Council staff members include the Director of Planning and Environmental Services, the Director of Infrastructure, the Manager of Infrastructure Planning, the Manager of Infrastructure Design and Investigations, the Traffic Engineer, Transport Planner and Community Worker - Access and Inclusion.

Community members include two Bike Marrickville representatives and an Action for Public Transport representative. State agencies represented on the Committee are Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) and Transport for NSW.
