The public path at Warren Park has been constructed on the
original flood plain of the Cooks River. North of the path is
a low sandstone cliff. An area of Potential Archaelogical
Deposit (PAD) was identified in a sandstone overhang within
the sandstone cliff. The sandstone overhang contains the
Thomas Holt Burial Vaults. Above the sandstone cliff is a
steep slope on top of which are private residences.
A stone artifact was found in Area 1. A dark grey/brown
sediment overlies the situ shell and forms the matrix to the
midden. The lowest section of in situ shell material overlies
a sandy clay devoid to shell. Below this clay is sandstone
bedrock. |
