Riverside Park midden consists of a low sandstone outcrop
on the banks of the Cooks River. Apart from a large number of
shells, an axe
head was discovered in 1961 by children digging in the
area.
The axe was later authenticated by the Australian Museum.
Marrickville Council has now registered Riverside Park Midden
as an Aboriginal Site on the New South Wales Parks and Wildlife
Service Aboriginal Heritage Information Management System and
is now part of Marrickville Golf Course. |
