As the invaders began to build their communities they also
began to shape and define their own policy with respect to
dealing with Aboriginal communities and their members.
Initially, the Cadigal and Wangal people were curious and
tolerant of the attentions of the strangers but were reluctant
to get too close to the British settlement at Sydney Cove.
However, this changed when they realised that the strangers
had come to stay.
