The Marrickville Community Nursery grows and sells local
native plants which occur naturally in the Cooks River Valley
area. The nursery’s aim is to help bring native plants back
into the Cooks River Valley and encourage wildlife back into
Marrickville and surrounding suburbs.
The nursery produces more than 10,000 plants a year, all
propagated from seeds or cuttings collected from local
remnants. The plants are grown for local revegetation projects
by the local Landcare groups, schools, the Cooks River
Foreshores Working Group and Marrickville Council.
It has a small bush garden, a Green and Golden Bell Frog
pond and is an environmental education site for local schools
and community groups. Marrickville Community Nursery is a
non-profit venture operated with the support of Marrickville
Council and hard working volunteers. |
