Children's Centres provided by Council

Marrickville Council provides long day care and preschool services through its Children's Centres. At these centres, staff collaborate with children to foster their development by establishing environments that provoke their desire to explore both their social and physical worlds.

Council centres have a commitment to develop respectful relationships with family members and the local community.

Marrickville Council actively supports diversity within our community, and Councils child care centres reflect this in the hope of creating a cohesive and peaceful community.

Formal offers for childcare in long day care and preschool services for 2010

Formal offers for a January-February 2010 start in Marrickville Council's long day care and preschool services will begin in the first week in October 2009, and will be finalised by mid-November 2009.

Please be advised that the Children & Family Services Team are not able to give families an indication earlier than this time as to if and when a formal offer can be made for their child to start in the New Year, or for a later day.

If you have not heard from the Children & Family Services Team by mid-November, this regrettably means we were not able to provide you with childcare starting in the New Year, despite our best efforts. However, your child's name will remain on the centralised wait-list until such a time a formal offer can be made.

Since the demand for childcare places exceeds the number of childcare places available, the Children & Family Services Team advises families to maximise their likelihood for a childcare place by placing their child's name on waiting lists at other centres or services in their local area that are not operated by Marrickville Council. These services may be found by visiting www.mychild.gov.au.

Marrickville Council also oversees the operation of Family Day Care in the Marrickville area. A separate waiting list exists for families seeking quality care for their child in a home environment. Further information regarding the waiting list and this type of care may be found by visiting our Family Day Care page.
