The role of the Marrickville Aged Care Advisory Committee is to:

Provide a consultation forum for Council on issues of concern to older people and/or aged services, existing service gaps and community needs

Assist with special events planning, co-ordination and participation eg Seniors Week

Identify training needs and conduct/arrange training on service issues

Provide information/education forums for older people around relevant issues

Identify and assist with implementation of projects involving service development and improved co-ordination of services or information for older people

Seek and apply for additional funding to support projects

Provide comment on government policy changes and support local policy development

Provide a forum for information exchange, support and promotion of local services

Exchange information/representation with other local or relevant forums such as the Marrickville Seniors Advisory Group, HACC forums, Marrickville Interagency
Membership
The committee comprises all those interested in issues for older people (55+), and in co-ordination of aged care services in the local area, with a focus on health and community-based services
Meetings
The committee meets every two months and sub-committee meetings (eg. Seniors Safety committee) are held on alternate months.
