About the Arts and Cultural Grants Program

Marrickville Council's Arts and Cultural Grants Program aims to provide financial support to artists working in any artform, community and cultural groups, and not-for-profit, non-government arts, community and cultural organisations that offer programs and services of benefit to residents in the Marrickville local government area (LGA).

The Program will contribute to key goals in Council’s Community Plan 2025 including establishing recognition for Marrickville as a leading creative arts centre, promoting a vibrant street-life, and supporting a culturally diverse and inclusive community.

The key objectives of the Arts and Cultural Grants Program are to:

  • support activities which contribute to the development of the arts and culture in the Marrickville LGA;
  • promote strong arts and cultural networks and partnership opportunities;
  • encourage excellence in the content and delivery of cultural activities;
  • provide opportunities for the implementation and development of innovative arts and cultural activities;
  • reflect and promote aspects of the cultural life of the Marrickville LGA;
  • support events that are a significant part of the cultural landscape of the Marrickville LGA; 
  • encourage participation by and engagement with local communities;
  • promote a vibrant street life, support local business and encourage visitors to the LGA; and
  • support the cultural diversity of the Marrickville LGA.
