Affordable Housing
Marrickville Council is in the process of developing an Affordable Housing Strategy. The aim of the strategy will be to preserve existing affordable housing and to facilitate the creation of affordable and accessible housing in the Council area.

Rental Accommodation
Community/Social Housing Providers servicing the Marrickville LGA providing low cost, long term housing to people in need of housing assistance who meet an eligibility criteria:

The Inner West Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy Service (02 9559 2899) provides telephone advice to tenants and residents of boarding houses living in the Inner West. If you need an interpreter call 131450 and ask them to call. Newtown Neighbourhood Centre (9516 4755) has housing fact sheets and housing related programs including the Housing Assistance and Referral Service, and the Homeless Person Legal Service.

- Consumer Credit Legal Centre has a number of fact sheets providing information on home loan and credit issues and run a Credit and Debt hotline: 1800 808 488. Mortgage assistance may be available for people experiencing temporary difficulty paying a home loan: 1800 806 653 or 9821 6502.

- No Interest Loans Schemes (NILS) are local community based, not for profit projects, which provide small loans, with no interest payments, to low income people to purchase essential whitegoods, furniture, medical appliances and other household necessities. Loans typically range between $800 and $1200.
