Sam Iskandar in his second term at Marrickville Council for West Ward. Sam is a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP).
Sam is the President of the Parents and Citizens Association at Marrickville High School and is on the Board of the May Murray Community Centre.
He has been a teacher at Marrickville High School for more than five years teaching Arabic. Teaching has given Sam the opportunity to gain an insight into issues that affect young people locally.
Sam is also the Community Liason Officer at Marrickville High School.
Prior to his teaching role, Sam established the Arabic Community School at Ferncourt Primary School.
In 1972 prior to migrating from Lebanon Sam graduated from a Diploma of Education in Physical Education.
As well as being a member of Marrickville Council, Sam is an active member on various committees for the Arabic community.
He migrated to Australia in 1977 and married Khadijeh in 1978. They have 6 children - Rima, Hiba, Mihamed, Donia, Maysaa and Mariam who range from 10 to 21 years of age. |
