Annual Management Plan and Budget 2009-2013

Marrickville Council adopted the Annual Management Plan and Budget 2009-2013 at the Council meeting of 16 June 2009, after careful consideration of financial restraints and analysis of community feedback.

The Annual Management Plan and Budget defines Council's priorities, projects and activities for the coming 12 months and details the operating budget for the next four years. It spells out what Council proposes to do to achieve its goals, and measure its performance.

The Annual Management Plan continues the implementation of Council's Strategic Plan 2006-2011 toward achievement of the long term vision for Marrickville as set out in the Marrickville Community Plan 2025.

Council has continued to listen to the community through public forums, ongoing comments on services and community surveys. While not every matter raised by the community can be addressed immediately, Council has addressed the community's top priorities and concerns directing additional resources into a range of services including:

  • Commencement of the construction phase of the Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre redevelopment in Enmore;
  • Completion of planning work for the redevelopment of the Fanny Durack Pool in Petersham;
  • Commencement of the construction of the new SES Facility in Tempe;
  • A formal review of Council's Operating Budget to improve financial sustainability;
  • Production of an Asset Management Plan;
  • Finalisation of a new draft Local Environment Plan (LEP) and associated Development Control Plan (DCP);
  • Continuation of a Stormwater Charge program of works and activities that address critical infrastructure and environmental needs;
  • Increased funding for graffiti management;
  • Improving and maintaining our parks, playground and sports fields;
  • Refurbishment of Mackey Park, to be funded by a $2.26m Federal Government grant; and
  • Reconstruction of the Cooks River Cycleway.
