Marrickville Urban Strategy

Marrickville Urban Strategy - Click to download

In April 2007 Council adopted the Marrickville Urban Strategy. The Urban Strategy has been developed to provide the planning context for future development across the Marrickville local government area.

It establishes a vision and co-ordinated directions addressing a range of planning, community and environmental issues, to guide short, medium and long term strategic planning policies.

As part of the development of the Urban Strategy, Marrickville Council undertook an extensive program of community consultation. Community consultation activities included local area meetings; Industrial Lands forums; consultation with a number of Council Consultative Committees and Community Groups; and consultation with State Government Agencies, adjoining local councils and other key stakeholders. The Urban Strategy was publicly exhibited in draft form to provide the community with a chance to review the document and provide comments.

The diagram below shows the relationship between the Urban Strategy and Marrickville Council’s other strategic documents:

Council will utilise information contained within the Marrickville Urban Strategy to inform the preparation of the new comprehensive LEP and consolidated DCP.
