Social Planning

The Marrickville community is made up of people from all walks of life and backgrounds, and while we have much in common, we often have different and particular needs.

Council's Social Plan addresses the needs of different groups in our community. These include children, young people, older people, people with a disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women and people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities.

Council works in partnership with the community to identify issues and strategies, coordinate actions across agencies and advocate to other levels of government on behalf of the community.

How it relates to other plans

The Social Plan sets the parameters for other more detailed plans dealing with issues such as access, cultural diversity, community safety and recreational needs.

In short, social planning helps to ensure that Marrickville remains a harmonious, safe and healthy place for all.
