In Marrickville, Council's Urban Centre Program is implemented by the Marrickville Chamber of Commerce which coordinates events to encourage people to visit and shop in Marrickville and supports local business operators.
The Chamber's activities are guided by a three-year strategic plan for the centre. The aims of the plan are to:
1. Build the capability, membership and presence of the Chamber to ensure it is representative and sustainable;
2. Market the unique character of Marrickville Urban Centre;
3. Encourage a high quality streetscape in Marrickville Urban Centre;
4. Enhance and support cultural and night time activity in Marrickville Urban Centre; and
