Australia Day Celebrations at Enmore Park

Celebrate Australia Day with the annual celebration of festivities in Enmore Park and feast on local delights. Events kick off at 3pm with the Citizenship Ceremony and announcement of the Citizen, Senior Citizen and Young Citizen of The Year, followed by live local entertainment from 4.30pm, before a spectacular fireworks display. There are tonnes of free activities for all the family, so share a picnic rug this Australia Day in Enmore Park from 3pm to 9pm.

International Women's Day

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a national holiday – and here at Marrickville Council we celebrate the achievements of local women throughout the community.

Bairro Português Petersham Food & Wine Fair

Taste Portuguese culture at the annual Bairro Português Petersham Food & Wine Fair. Now in its 13th year, the streets in Petersham will come alive with a party atmosphere with contemporary and traditional Portuguese and Brazilian dancing and music. Stalls lining the streets will serve delicious Mediterranean, Portuguese and Brazilian cuisines, wines, beers and sangria!

The Bairro Português Petersham Food & Wine Fair will be held on Audley and Fisher Streets on Sunday 15 March from 10am to 6pm.

Movies in the Park

Annually in April

Movies in the Park is a family event, bringing together the community with live music from local artists, children's activities and a selection of our favourite international cuisines culminating in a twilight movie screening for all the family to enjoy.

Marrickville Medal

Annually in May

The Marrickville Medal for Conservation has been awarded annually since 1995. It celebrates built conservation works that contribute to the understanding and preservation of Marrickville's rich cultural and architectural heritage. The award was one of the first of its kind in New South Wales, and coincides with the state-wide National Trust Heritage Festival.

Eligibility to enter the Marrickville Medal is open to all building works completed in the preceding three years which can be described as having positive conservation outcomes. Conservation could include any of the following approaches: preservation, restoration, reconstruction, adaptation or interpretation. Large or small, private or public – the judges will be looking for thoughtful and innovative outcomes.

Celebrate 2044

Heading into its fourth year, Celebrate 2044 – St Peters, Sydenham and Tempe's own community fair – celebrates the local area with a relaxed picnic style event on the greens at Tillman Park. In partnership with the local community, businesses and schools, the event will feature entertainment, local produce and activities for the whole family.

Open Marrickville

Annually in June

Open Marrickville is an eleven day festival celebrating multiculturalism through storytelling, music, dance, art, theatre, food, and simply gathering together. The festival takes place in a variety of locations across the Marrickville area. These activities are organised by local community groups, schools and community organisations, with support from Marrickville Council through a grants program.

Dulwich Hill Village Fair

The Dulwich Hill Village Fair celebrates the delights of the Dulwich Hill Village with live entertainment, children’s activities and a huge mix of market stalls including handicrafts, home wares, children’s toys and clothing and homemade preserves and sweets, all celebrating the diversity and quality of local produce.

Council's flagship event, the Marrickville Festival once again brings together all our diverse and vibrant people, cultures, and creative communities with a feast of international cuisine, live music and entertainment. With over 120 stalls displaying local produce, handmade artisan works, gifts and community groups as well as a Main Stage program, International Dance Floor, The Break music competition and a range of free activities for kids and the whole family.
