Proposal to Expand Eligibilty of Council Child Care Daily Fee Subsidy for Council's Long Day Care Centres

For Public Notice and Comment

Marrickville Council has a reputation for delivering the highest quality children’s services at affordable prices, especially for low and modest income earning families. Since 2003 Marrickville Council has allocated funds to provide a daily fee subsidy (currently $3.45 per day) to families on 100% Child Care Benefit (CCB) who use Council’s long day care centres.

Marrickville Council hereby gives notice of a proposal to expand eligibility for the daily fee subsidy in 2008/09. Effective from 1 July 2008, Council proposes to extend the subsidy to those families using Council’s long day care centres who are the holders of either:

  • the Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) or
  • the Commonwealth automatic or low income Health Care Card (HCC).

This expansion of eligibility for the fee subsidy reflects Marrickville Council’s continued commitment to providing accessible and affordable services for children and families. Extension of the Council long day care fee subsidy to families with either of these cards will increase access to a fee reduction to a greater number of families with children. This strategy will support many families to access and/or continue with their child care centre placement in Marrickville Council long day care centres.
