Youth participation

Council values and encourages the participation of young people in planning and decision making and community life in general. Young people are invited to participate in Council planning processes across all divisions, such as through the Marrickville Youth Council. Young people are central in planning Youth Week and they participate at youth events and in youth consultations.
 
 

Coordination and planning of services

Council will improve access to a range of government and non-government services and facilities for young people in the community. Council will implement communication and technology strategies that are relevant and accessible to young people.
 
 

Education, training and employment

Council will support the development of education, training, and employment opportunities that are relevant and that prepare young people, in all their diversity, to actively engage in society, to contribute to their own wellbeing and that of the community.
 
 

Recreation, art & culture

Council will support a range of recreational, artistic and cultural facilities and activities and will encourage and enable young people to engage in them in a positive way.
 
 

Safety, health and wellbeing

Council supports programs addressing the physical, emotional and mental well-being of young people. Council endeavours to facilitate the breaking down of barriers around social inclusion so young people are able to comfortably access relevant and integrated health services and counselling. Council supports the development of public spaces where young people can meet together safely.
