All Nations Indoor Soccer Tournament

Refugee Week 2008

Refugee Week 2008 recognises the contribution made by refugees living in the Marrickville area. One of the week's major events is the 'All Nations Indoor Soccer Tournament'. The event was held for the first time last year and was a great success bringing the whole community together for a day of fun and excitement as teams played off for the title of the 'All Nations Tournament Champions'.

This year Council hopes to get local schools more involved in the event by staging a one-day indoor soccer tournament at the Debbie and Abbey Borgia Community Recreation Centre on Wednesday 11 June 2008. Primary and Secondary Schools are invited to register teams which will be graded based on year groups. Students will participate in a round robin indoor soccer competition and, if teams are available, the finals of each division will be played at the 'All Nations Indoor Soccer Tournament' on Sunday 15 June 2008.

By getting local schools involved Council hopes to make the day an even greater success and to provide a unique opportunity for community members to get together and play sport within the context of our 2008 Refugee Week activities.

If you would like your school to be involved or you would like more information about the event please contact Council’s Recreation Officer on 9335 2191 or send an email to recoff@marrickville.nsw.gov.au by 2 May 2008.
