As responsible pet owners, it is important to ensure that your cat is desexed and microchipped, and now it is easier than ever thanks to Operation Cat.

Operation Cat is an initiative of the Cat Protection Society and Marrickville Council, and enables participants to receive discounted desexing and microchipping from 16-27 November 2009.

The Cat Protection Society's Cat Protection Welfare Officers will pick up Marrickville residents' cats and kittens, transport them to a vet, get them desexed and microchipped and bring them home the next day.

The service aims to make looking after cats easier and more affordable for seniors, who may have mobility issues, and for those who need financial assistance.

The cost to the owner is:

  • Female desexing and microchipping: $90
  • Male desexing and microchipping: $80
  • Female desexing: $80
  • Male desexing: $70

Desexing your cat is important as it can ensure long term health, as well as prevention of some diseases, unwanted litters and anti-social behaviour.

Microchipping is also essential, as it ensures you'll be reunited with your cat if it gets lost, and is a legal requirement under the NSW Companion Animal Act.

Bookings for this service are essential. For more information or to book phone the Cat Protection Society on 9519 7201.
