Situated at 303 Marrickville Road, Marrickville, this is the largest of the halls available for hire. Maintained in its original heritage condition, it is ideal for concerts, dances, meetings, conferences and weddings.

History

Marrickville Town Hall officially opened on 11 February 1922. The two storeyed red brick building features sandstone dressings quarried at Undercliffe. The Town Hall consisted of 3 halls.  The main hall was often used as a dance venue from the 1920s in to the 1950s. When opened, Marrickville Town Hall was the second largest in Sydney. Only Sydney Town Hall was larger. The auditorium is flanked by a large gallery and a balcony to the side. The main stairs were constructed of terrazzo marble with wrought-iron balustrades

On 1 January 1949 the Councils of Petersham, St Peters and Marrickville amalgamated.  The administrative function was moved to Petersham Town Hall. The former Marrickville Council chambers subsequently became the headquarters of Marrickville Council's Library Services.

Marrickville Town Hall took a star turn in 1997. Featuring in director Bruce Beresford's World War Two film, Paradise Road, the Town Hall doubled as Raffles Hotel in Singapore. The distinctive wood panelling and high ceiling fans present in the hall are said to have been reminiscent of architectural styles popular during the War era.
