Marrickville Library and History Services has a large selection of children's books, CDs, DVDs, talking books, and kits (books and CDs) for loan. Our children's collection caters for kids of all ages – from babies, to preschoolers and primary school children.

Baby Rhymetime

Baby Rhymetime sessions include songs, rhymes, actions and plenty of fun. Aiming to introduce babies and toddlers to literature, baby rhymetime helps develop vital skills in learning to read and communicate. Suitable for babies 0-2 years. More information.

Preschool Storytime

Preschool Storytime is held weekly at Marrickville, Dulwich Hill, Stanmore and St Peters/Sydenham Libraries. Each session includes stories, songs, rhymes and a fun, simple craft that may require adult help. Suitable for children 2-5 years. More information.

Bookworm Kids Club

Special after school Book Club for primary school aged children

Every Monday during school term, children aged 6-12 years are invited to come and hear some wickedly good books that prove a great story can always be found and heard at the library. Children’s staff are on hand to chat about the best, most awesome books, do some fun activities and crafts as well as to play games such as Pictionary, or charades. Love books? This is the club for you.

For 6-12 years old. Children aged 10 and under need adult supervision.

Marrickville and branch libraries are actively supporting schools participating in the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge.
